The two areas that shouldn’t be missed, both offering top-quality golf courses, are Marbella and Sotogrande.
Golf in Marbella – Golf holidays Spain
The area of Marbella itself is worth exploring. Steeped in history and offering delicious cuisine along with crystal clear water and fine white sandy beaches, you’ll need to schedule in a couple of days for relaxing and sightseeing after playing golf.

Golf in Sotogrande
Sotogrande is a luxurious sports and residential development and is well-known for being the home of the world-famous Valderrama course. The course has hosted, among others, the Ryder Cup and Volvo Masters. The area is also home to the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, which was designed by Robert Trent Jones and founded in 1964. Other noteworthy golf courses in the area include Finca Cortesin and La Reserva de Sotogrande.

Famous for having been designed by Robert Trent Jones, Valderrama Golf Course has a reputation for being in the top 10 most challenging courses in Europe and is one of the best-known courses in the world. It boasts lightning-fast greens and narrow fairways and is know if it’s signature fourth hole named “La Cascada” for the waterfall feature set alongside the tiny elevated green.
Real Club de Golf Sotogrande
Opened in 1964, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande regularly features in Europe’s top 10 golf courses. Close to the beach and set alongside the River Guadiaro and Sotogrande marina, the club is beautiful, so it’s no surprise that it remains a favourite with visitors to Sotogrande.
West Course
All along the Costa Del Sol in the south of Spain, right up to Murcia, there are many different world-class golf courses to choose from if you’re planning a golf holiday in Spain. For a different golfing experience, head northeast along the coastline towards La Manga in Murcia. There you’ll find the area’s golfing highlight, the Real Golf La Manga Club. With three 18-hole golf courses, the West, the North, and the South, each offering a unique style and terrain, this is one of Spain’s top golfing destinations.
The club has played host to a number of international golf tournaments over the years, including five Spanish Opens, the Spanish PGA, and the European Ladies Team Championship.
North Course
The north course was designed by Robert Dave Putman in 1971 and is accessible for players of all levels. You can expect palm trees, ravines, and lakes and sea views on this picturesque course.
South Course
Widely considered one of Spain’s top courses, it was designed by Dave Putman in 1971 and remodelled in 2005 by the famous golfer Arnold Palmer.
