Project Description

Why Kiawah Island and Hilton Head

Well, we at Golf Holidays have specially prepared a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Charleston Kiawah Island and Hilton Head, this trip takes in some of the finest hotels and courses in South Carolina and is certainly one for that special “bucket list ” golf break. One of our team was fortunate enough some years ago to take in this area and rates it as the best golf holiday he has made in the past 4o years of overseas golf holidays.

To play Kiawah Island and more importantly the Ocean course where Bernard Langer missed that important put in 1991 to retain  the Ryder Cup for Europe is magic the golf course is just spectacular and the atmosphere is just wonderful, with extra rounds at Patriots Point and River Towne makes this trip special.

The hotel at Charleston is ideally located close to all amenities, including restaurants, entertainment, and all Charleston has to offer.

After our 4 nights stay in Charelston we travel to Hilton Head

Play Harbour Town Golf Club which is normally the next PGA venue after the Masters, again we have played the course and its a real treat, our second round will be played at Atlantic Dunes designed by Davis Love and our hotel during our stay for 3 nights in Hilton Head is the Inn at Harbour Town one of Hilton Heads finest.

The Irish are always made very welcome by the Americans and the hospitality down south is immense. Book one of the truly great Golf Holidays.

A gentle stroll from both hotels to Charleston and or Harbour Town makes these hotels ideal for a golf trip down south

Golf

During your 7 day stay you will play Kiawah Island, Patriots Point, River Towne all in the Charleston area, and in Hilton Head, you will play Harbour Town and Atlantic Dunes

Hilton Head

Hilton Head Island’s oldest course is now its newest, thanks to a superb makeover by Love Golf Design. The old Ocean course, a 1962 George Cobb creation, kickstarted the Lowcountry golf boom. Now, Davis Love III and his design team have modernized it, transforming it into Atlantic Dunes. The finished product is a big success—some sweaty palms notwithstanding. “You think it’s a lot of pressure playing Harbour Town and playing in your favorite tournament,” says Love, a five-time winner of the PGA Tour’s RBC Heritage at Harbour Town. “But there’s more pressure to fix one of their courses.”

Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Join the ranks of avid golfers who have The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort on their must-play list for a true test of skill. Located on the eastern-most end of the island, The Ocean Course boasts the most seaside holes in the Northern Hemisphere with ten hugging the Atlantic and the other eight running parallel to those. Although it was originally planned to sit behind the dunes, designer Pete Dye’s wife, Alice, suggested raising the entire course to give players unobstructed views of Kiawah’s stunning coastline from every hole. One catch? This improved view made the course substantially more demanding as it also exposed play to the Atlantic’s brisk and unpredictable breezes. In fact, it’s unlikely any other golf course in the world—outside the United Kingdom and Ireland—is affected as much by wind.

Harbour Town

Put your game to the ultimate test at Harbour Town Golf Links at The Sea Pines Resort. It is both the crowning achievement of famed designer Pete Dye and design consultant Jack Nicklaus and a perennial favorite among PGA TOUR players, as it places a premium on finesse, imagination and shot-making, rather than strength. Featuring a collection of par threes ranked amongst the world’s finest and a par-4 18th hole considered one of the most feared in all of golf, Harbour Town Golf Links has undergone many recent enhancements, including new Celebration Bermuda grass for the fairways, new TifEagle Bermuda grass for the greens and a new irrigation system.
